Why Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is one of the most common treatment provided to replace missing teeth. Patients who get their teeth extracted often shy away from smiling or feel embarrassed during social interactions.

Indication for Bridge:

  • Help restore patient’s smile & confidence
  • Prevent adjacent teeth from shifting or moving into empty space
  • Prevent over eruption of opposing top teeth
  • Restore chewing efficiency
  • Avoid bone loss

How The Procedure Is Performed?

Making a bridge will require 2-3 appointments. At your initial consultation appointment dentist will discuss the treatment options with you. If you agree with the option of dental bridge, your first appointment will be booked for crown preparation. In this appointment teeth on either side of the empty space will be prepared and an impression will be taken, this impression will be sent to the lab. The lab usually takes approximately 2 wks to make the bridge. During this transission period a temporary bridge will be placed. At your second appointment the temporary bridge will be removed and permanent bridge is cemented. Depending on the situation you may need to come to our office during transition period for “try-in” – before permanent bridge is cemented - this is usually required for complicated cases.
Dental bridges are fixed, they are cemented on to your teeth so you don’t have to worry about removing them at night and putting it back on in the morning. If you take good care of your teeth and maintain good oral hygiene, the bridge could last for 5 – 10 years. You can use floss threaders to clean underneath the bridge.
